We need to raise over £8 million every year to provide outstanding Hospice care to the local community. To get involved with our fundraising activities, design your own, or make a donation, use the information on this page.
Hospice in the Weald is delighted to receive further government funding to support our work in delivering high-quality, sustainable hospice care for the local community.
We are set to receive £594,580 as part of the government’s package of support for hospices in England. This is in addition to £199,653 received in the first funding round earlier this year. It will be used across several capital projects to benefit those cared for both at our Hospice in Pembury and in the wider community.
Nick Farthing, Chief Executive of Hospice in the Weald, said: “This funding will make a real difference and used to support our commitment to providing high-quality care for those in our community facing life-limiting or life-threatening illness.
“It comes during a time of significant investment at Hospice in the Weald as we progress with plans to upgrade buildings and services to meet the evolving needs of patients and families. These improvements form part of our broader vision to shape hospice care for the future, so we can be here for our community for many years to come.”
Nick added: “It’s encouraging that the government is recognising the pressures facing hospices, and we are grateful to Hospice UK for championing the need for sustainable hospice funding.”
The Department of Health and Social Care has allocated the additional funds specifically for ‘capital’ building and infrastructure. While this is a welcome investment, Hospice in the Weald still needs to raise £9 million each year to provide free care and be there for adults and children facing the most challenging times of their lives.
