It’s never too early to have open and honest conversations about death and end-of-life issues. This is the heart of our new campaign. It explores three different topics that may help us talk to our loved ones, helping to inform and prepare us when making difficult end-of-life decisions. You can read more about the campaign here.
Our choice of five of the best podcasts that talk about death and dying
Funny People Talking About Death
A weekly podcast where comedian host Cariad Lloyd talks to different comedians (past guests include Romesh Ranganathan and David Baddiel) about their experiences of grief after losing loved ones. As the podcast’s description reads, “it’s cheerier than it sounds”!
with Kathy Burke
In her new for 2022 podcast series, Kathy Burke quizzes other celebrities (including Dawn French and Joe Lycett) on how they would plan their perfect death. A unique take expertly using humour to traverse a difficult subject.
The Dying Matters Podcast
This podcast features people who believe it is important to talk about death sooner rather than later, drawing on their personal experiences. Interesting topics include the use of music to help people at the end of life and also how to talk to young people about dying.
TED Radio Hour
In this hour-long feature, five TED speakers explore how we can speak about death openly and without fear and prepare for it with loved ones. You can listen to each speaker in handy ten minute snippets, or the show in full.
Putting the can in cancer
The influential and extremely candid BBC Radio 5 Live podcast started by Dame Deborah James, Rachael Bland and Lauren Mahon. More than 90 episodes cover their journeys, and subjects such as grief and palliative care. And more recently feature Deborah’s friends and family as they celebrate her life.
