Jess's Story

We are lucky to have incredible individuals working at the hospice, who are deeply committed to providing compassionate care to those with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Among these remarkable individuals is Jess, whose journey with us has been nothing short of inspiring. Here, she tells her story.

I have been working at the Hospice for about 10 months, in the new service for children and young people which launched at the beginning of this year. We provide support to children, young people and their families by offering in-home care, clinical support and fun activities that bring smiles to their faces.

Hospice in the Weald is a charity very close to my heart, having cared for my Dad Mark during his final years of life.

Since my Dad became unwell, I have raised money for the Hospice by skydiving, bake sales and running the London Marathon in 2021. It is a charity that will always have my support, I started working at the Hospice about one month after participating in Hospice Run, which was another way of raising awareness for the amazing work being done here.

Making A Difference

I cannot wait to be on the other side of the run this year. My trainers will come out of retirement soon, I have chosen Hospice Run as one of my volunteering events. I can’t wait to help make the event happen and to cheer all the participants on!

Sign up now – You won’t regret it! The atmosphere is always incredible and there is no better feeling than hearing the Old School Samba Band as you near the finish line. It’s amazing to be part of an event knowing that everyone else is there to support the same cause.

Any sort of fundraising is so important for the Hospice. We rely on fundraising to run the crucial services we have to offer. It is so exciting being part of a brand-new service, especially as we begin to grow. We wouldn’t be able to do it without our amazing supporters participating in events like Hospice Run.
