The themes are:
- A local bird theme. Example room names could include birds that frequent the Hospice’s garden and hold significance to patients and their families, such as robins.
- An orchard theme. Example room names could include the fruit trees in the orchard that several of the Hospice’s in-patient rooms overlook.
- A flower theme. Example room names could include flowers that grow in the Hospice’s garden and in the open gardens across West Kent and East Sussex.
- A numbers or letters theme. Room names would be numbered or lettered for simplicity.
“We are excited to be able to create a new look in-patient ward for patients and their families that will continue to meet their care needs now and well into the future.
“We’d love for the community to help us choose a theme for the names of the 15 rooms in the ward. Each room will keep its number for practical purposes, but the themed names will help create a more welcoming and memorable space for patients and families. We hope the chosen theme and subsequent room names will add warmth and individuality to the in–patient ward.”
