Description: The house at Lake Farm was formally the barns associated with Great Maytham Hall and was used to house the pigs and donkeys for the estate. There is a spring fed lake next to the house which was used as a water supply for the animals. The garden was formally landscaped by the previous owners but since moving into the property five years ago we have adapted the design of the garden to suit ourselves. We opened up the lake allowing it to become part of the garden and we reduced some of the larger flower beds. We reinstated the vegetable garden with its large greenhouse. We have also built a pool house and relandscaped the swimming pool area. The garden is planted with cottage garden plants interspersed with roses, box and various variegated shrubs. There is an orchard with apple, pear, and plum trees.
