For over four decades, Hospice in the Weald has provided outstanding end of life support to our community. Our work is only possible due to the generosity and kindness provided by our supporters. Supporters like you. Leaving a Gift in your Will helps us ensure that the care, comfort and dignity we provide can continue in the future.

Help it live on for all, for now, forever

The Hospice is proud to have joined in a collaboration of hospices in the national campaign, led by Hospice UK, called ‘This is Hospice Care’. The campaign aims to raise important awareness around hospice care and the impact leaving a Gift in your Will could have on the future of your local Hospice.

Leaving a legacy can help protect the care we can provide, helping to create cherished memories and moments that matter for people receiving end of life support. Do you know what the Hospice can offer you or your loved ones in a time of need?

We provide end of life care that is tailored to the individual needs of patients and their families. Our care is always free of charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

“The staff made it a safe environment to show emotions, and I feel so lucky that my dad had that care. We put such an emphasis on coming into this world and I think we should have the same when we are leaving.”

Rebecca shared how Hospice in the Weald helped not just her Dad, but the whole of her family during her dad’s final months.

Frequently asked questions about Gifts in Wills

Here are some common questions about legacy gifting and our answers. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach our to our team and they will be happy to help.

What if I've already written my will?

You can still include a gift to Hospice in the Weald, it’s important to update your Will throughout your life, and you can make any changes you would like to. You can talk to a solicitor about adding a codicil or rewriting your Will entirely using one of our partnered Will writers or with a solicitor.

How much does it cost to get a new will?

You can write a basic Will for free through one of our trusted partners. More complex Wills should be written by solicitor, you should agree a fee in your initial meeting with them.

What information do I need to include in my Will to gift to a Hospice?

To make your gift legally valid, include our full name, address and charity number. Example:

“I give [£___ or ___% of my estate] to Hospice in the Weald, Maidstone Road, Pembury, TN2 4TA. Registered Charity No. 280276.”

If you make your Will with a solicitor it will be helpful to have this information in your appointment.

Can I choose where my gift will be spent?

We ask that your gift is given freely with out restrictions on where the funds can be spent. This is especially important with gifts left in Wills, as this is a gift for the future we can’t predict where it might be needed.

How much should I leave to make a difference?

Every gift, big or small, supports patients and families when they need it most. You can choose to leave a specific amount known as a pecuniary gift or a percentage of your estate which is known as a residuary gift.

When should I write a will?

Write or update your Will after major life changes like marriage, children, or buying a home. But really, the best time is now. A Will gives you control and peace of mind.

Can my gift be dedicated to the memory of a loved one?

Yes, leaving a gift in your Will in memory of a loved one is a special way to celebrate them. You can let us know at the time you pledge a gift, and we will record your wishes or you can include instruction in your Will that we be notified of your wishes.

Do I need to tell a charity that I’ve included a gift to it in my Will?

Your Will is personal, you don’t have to tell us but when someone lets us know that they have pledged to leave a gift it can help us plan for the future. If you do let us know, we’d love to say thank you and keep you updated on how gifts like yours help our care live on.
