The ReSPECT process

ReSPECT stands for Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment. Completing this form with your health and care team will provide a personalised list of recommendations for your clinical care in emergency situations when you may not be able to make decisions or express your wishes. It provides health and care professionals with a summary of recommendations to help them make immediate decisions about your care and treatment.

As you begin to have conversations with your family, people who are important to you and health and care professionals you can explore what is important to you. This document isn’t legally binding and can be reviewed and changed if personal and medical circumstances change. One of the decisions you can have on this document is if you would choose CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to be attempted.
