Hospice in the Weald would like to send a huge thanks to Elizabeth Rizzini, who many will know for presenting the weather on BBC, who raised vital money for the Hospice after emerging victorious on Celebrity Mastermind.
Showcasing her impressive knowledge of Celine Dion, her specialist subject, Elizabeth’s participation was driven by a personal connection to the hospice that provided invaluable care to her cousin, Jo, before she passed away in 2021.
“Jo was full of life and joy, always there for big moments in my life,” said Elizabeth. “The Hospice allowed her to have the dignified, comfortable passing she wished for, surrounded by love.”
“Jo was full of life and joy, always there for big moments in my life,” said Elizabeth. “The Hospice allowed her to have the dignified, comfortable passing she wished for, surrounded by love.”
Hospice in the Weald allowed Jo to spend her final days at home, surrounded by loved ones, while receiving expert nursing care and emotional support. Elizabeth’s motivation was to recognise the support her cousin received and raise money in her memory.
“Hospice in the Weald is not just about end-of-life care; they focus on helping people live well and achieve their goals, no matter their circumstances,” she explained. “It’s a charity where you can see the tangible impact of your support.”
Elizabeth’s Mastermind journey was series-topping; she bravely faced the iconic chair with Clive Myrie and expertly answered her questions on her specialist subject, earning a top score of 23 points.
“The infamous Mastermind chair lives up to its reputation,” Elizabeth laughed, describing the ‘pressure’ of the spotlight.
The Hospice is incredibly proud of Elizabeth’s achievement and deeply grateful for her support. The BBC appearance raised crucial money a shone a spotlight on the compassionate care provided to patients and families across Kent & East Sussex.
“We are so grateful Elizabeth’s for her commitment to Hospice in the Weald,” said Kieran Draper, Head of Communications. “Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of hospice care and the difference we can make to people’s lives.”
“We hope Elizabeth’s story will encourage others to learn more about our services and how we can support them and their loved ones,” Kieran continued.
Elizabeth plans to continue her support for Hospice in the Weald, ensuring that Jo’s legacy lives on and that other families can benefit from the same compassionate care.
