Nus Ghani visits Cottage Hospice
On Friday 3rd May 2019 Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden met Rob Woolley, Chief Executive, and Holly Cowen, Head of Cottage Hospice, at the site in Five Ashes, East Sussex.
As the first of its kind in the UK, Cottage Hospice will provide local patients, families and carers with more choice about the care they receive at the end of life. The 10 bedrooms will be a home-from-home environment in which family caregivers will care for their loved ones with the support of volunteers.
Rob said, “It was a pleasure to show Nus around on Friday and to discuss how vital Cottage Hospice will be in meeting more unmet need in the local community, and meeting more patients wishes at the end of life.”
Holly added, “Volunteers will be crucial to Cottage Hospice, supporting family caregivers. We have also created our own suite of pick up, put down materials, including video tutorials, which will be available to family caregivers for further support. These materials will enable and empower the giving of care and are titled ‘Informed: The Family Caregivers guide to the final days of life’. We are currently recruiting volunteers for Cottage Hospice.”
Cottage Hospice is set to open in Autumn 2019 in Five Ashes, East Sussex.
