A sponsored run ... around the garden!
Sophie, 9, and Olive 4, were looking for a “lockdown challenge” to keep them occupied during their time shielding, and luckily for us, the girls wanted to use the challenge to support Hospice in the Weald.
On Saturday, both girls, along with their younger brother Arthur, completed a fun run in their back garden. At 9 years old, Sophie challenged herself to run 9km – a whopping 324 laps! Olive, aged 4, took on 144 laps, totalling 4km, and Arthur, aged just 2, attempted 2km – 72 laps! Whilst Arthur didn’t quite make it, both girls’ sterling efforts meant they completed their challenges, and were rewarded with a giant bar of chocolate!
The girls raised a huge £260 from their fun run, and we are so proud of them. Running that far in laps around the garden is undoubtedly a real challenge! Chiara Creates, Relationship Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, spoke of the girls’ success. “We are all amazed at the determination of the girls to complete this challenge, and must thank them most sincerely for their incredible efforts. Thank you both – true superstars! The chocolate was truly well deserved!”
