Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

Hospice in the Weald (HitW) recognises its responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable adults and works in accordance with the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Adult Protection Policy Protocols and Guidance for Kent and Medway and the Safeguarding Adult at Risk Protocol for Providers for East Sussex County Council.  A vulnerable adult or adult at risk is defined as:

“an adult (a person aged 18 or over) who 'is or may be in need of community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness; and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation”.
