The Quiet Room and Quiet Garden
The Quiet Room at Hospice in the Weald is always open to patients and their visitors. It provides a beautiful space in the hospice dedicated for quiet, meditation, prayer and reflection. The bowl of candles provides a lovely focus and you are welcome to light a candle to remember someone. We also have a book to write down and share your thoughts. Prayer books from different faith traditions are available. The In Memoriam books contain the names of all those over the years who have been cared for by the hospice team.
The Butterfly Tree is popular, especially (but not exclusively) with our younger visitors who may like to colour in a leaf or butterfly and hang on the tree.
All are welcome to use the Quiet Room in whatever way is helpful.
The Quiet Room looks out on to our Quiet Garden, which is also decorated with butterflies, a symbol of hope and transformation. It has a very popular water feature, which is soothing and calming to listen to. Many say the music of the water helps them find peace in difficult times.
