Meet the Consultants
Dr Helen McGee is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine and has worked at Hospice in the Weald since 2006 - becoming Medical Director in 2007. She trained at Edinburgh University and then moved to London where she completed her specialist training working in several hospices, acute hospitals and the community setting.
She has a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and is an active fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Association of Palliative Medicine. Helen lives in Tunbridge Wells with her husband and two daughters. She is a keen runner and cyclist – the London Marathon being one of her highlights!
Dr Georgina Parker has been a Consultant in Palliative Medicine since 2008. She was born and brought up in the Weald of Kent and trained at St Georges Hospital Medical School (part of the University of London). She did the vast majority of her postgraduate training in Kent working in many of the local acute hospitals, hospices and community settings. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Association for Palliative Medicine.
Her area of special interest is the importance of good communication skills for healthcare professionals and she is an accredited facilitator for the National Advanced Communication Skills Training Courses. Georgina lives in Maidstone with her family.
Dr Katie Taylor is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine and joined Hospice in the Weald in 2014. She trained as a doctor at King’s College London and worked in Sussex for a few years and then in New Zealand. She returned to London and the South East to complete specialist training in various hospices and hospitals.
She has an interest in education, particularly teaching medical students and doctors in training. Katie lives in Tunbridge Wells with her husband, 2 children and dog.
