Carols at Christmas

On Tuesday 17th December Hospice in the Weald held the first Carols at Christmas at Tonbridge School, hosted by TV’s Strictly Come Dancing judge and Kent resident Len Goodman.

Len welcomed the 650-plus guests to St Augustine’s Chapel, including supporters, sponsors, trustees, patrons, staff and volunteers of the Hospice, to the sell-out festive gathering, saying he was proud to call himself a supporter of Hospice in the Weald as well as taking the opportunity to thank the evening’s guest choirs – the Senior Boys Choir from Skinners’ School and the choir from Claremont Primary – and revealing that the event was being live streamed to the 15 beds at the Hospice in Pembury as well as the newly-opened Cottage Hospice at Five Ashes – “so sing loudly!”.

Readings and carols – both traditional and contemporary – were interspersed by moving performances from the choirs and a rendition of The Little Road to Bethlehem by George Thomas, Year 10 student at The Skinners’ School.

The evening was rounded off with mince pies and mulled wine – and the opportunity for many of the younger guests and choirs members to meet Len.
