Creative Therapy
What is it?
Creative Therapy covers a wide range of mediums and is available for all Day Therapy Centre patients. It is an artist led programme that enables those with life-limiting illness and their families, to express what matters to them through an art form of their choice: memory books, a photo collage, a video, a DVD, a poem or prose writing and memory boxes.
Is Creative Therapy for me?
Creative Therapy is not restricted to those coming from a creative or artistic background; all that is needed is an interest and sometimes a little imagination. It can encourage people to explore their creativity and discover unrecognised abilities.
How does it work?
Through private conversations, our Artist works with patients to help them make decisions about content and layout, and is on-hand to provide technical support five days per week. The Day Therapy Centre is equipped with an up-to-date digital arts centre which includes computers, printers and cameras- allowing us to produce artwork of the highest quality.
In addition to working on a one to one basis there are also opportunities to get involved in group art projects, both at the Hospice and out in the local community.
