In-Patient Unit
The In-Patient Unit at Hospice in the Weald is a 17 bed short-stay facility offering care to individuals and their families affected by a life-limiting illness. Although not every Hospice patient requires admission to the In-Patient Unit, an admission may be necessary to help control difficult symptoms; to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, carers and families; to provide respite care or provide specialist care in the last days of life. The average stay is about two weeks, but this depends on the patient's individual needs. Three of the In-Patient Unit beds make up the Clinical Procedure Unit, this is a designated area for patients requiring day case interventions e.g. blood transfusions.
All of the rooms in the In-Patient Unit are single bedded and have an en-suite shower and toilet. The rooms also have a wardrobe, writing desk, telephone, easy chair, small fridge and a television/DVD player.
The ward has free WiFi access for patients to use their own laptops or if required a loan of one maybe arranged from the Hospice during their stay.
