Complementary therapies may promote a feeling of well being and be an adjunct to medical and nursing care. The ‘healing' in the context of complementary therapies does not mean curative, but refers to balance and a promotion of self healing, with regard to relief of symptoms and development of inner peace.
As well as specific therapies such as massage, reflexology, reiki, acupuncture and Mudita we also ‘teach' guided meditation, relaxation and visualisation. This is a method that lets mind and body become calm and relaxed, allowing a sense of tranquillity and thereby helping the body's own energies to become more efficient. It can be done either sitting or lying and, with the guidance of the therapist, breathing and visualisation techniques can be learned, so that they can also be used at home. These techniques bring about balance and life enhancement.
