Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care
The Chaplain is available for all Hospice patients and their families and friends - of any faith or none, either within the Hospice or, by arrangement, at home. There may be questions about basic beliefs or the meaning of life, although issues do not necessarily have to be ‘religious'. It can be helpful to talk to someone about what is happening, relationships with others, or just to have a chat or share a joke with someone.
The Chaplain can also arrange a visit by a leader from a patient's own church or religious tradition.
The Pearl Newman Quiet Room/Chapel at the Hospice is always open to patients and their visitors. It provides a beautiful space for quiet prayer, meditation or reflection, as well as the services of Holy Communion offered to in-patients and day patients.
The Hospice in the Weald Chaplain is a member of the Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplains and works to its Standards and Code of Conduct. She is also Honorary Lecturer at the University of Kent.
