Hospice in the Weald's Lymphoedema Service was set up in 2006. The aim of the service is to provide advice and treatment for patients with either primary or secondary lymphoedema and for those requiring palliative lymphoedema treatments within the Hospice setting.
The nurse-led clinic is run by nurses with specialist training in the assessment and management of lymphoedema.
Individual treatment pathways will be implemented following an initial assessment to determine clinical need, and may include: advice on daily management, simple lymphatic drainage, kinesio taping, medical lymphatic drainage, multi-layer lymphoedema bandaging and compression garments. Lymphoedema is a life-long condition and we aim to provide ongoing support and review.
Referral
We receive referrals from recognised healthcare professionals for patients within the Hospice catchment area and the wider West Kent PCT. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept self-referrals.
