Caring for our Community

In-Patient Unit

What are the rooms like?

All of the rooms in the In-Patient Unit are single bedded and have an en suite shower and toilet.  The rooms also have a wardrobe, writing desk, telephone, easy chair, small fridge, a television and a video.

Airconditioning is available for some of the rooms.

In addition, you may use your laptop computer or arrange the loan of one from the Hospice during your stay.

What staff are available?

Our nursing staff are qualified in caring for patients with cancer, HIV/AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and other life-limiting illness.  On admission each patient is assigned a named nurse who will plan and co-ordinate the care, with the patient's wishes at the heart of the process.  The ratio of staff to patients is high in order to achieve the best possible care.

During a stay you will have the support of Doctors, Nurses, an Occupational Therapist, a Physiotherapist, members of the Family Support and Counselling team, the Chaplain and Volunteers.  There are also volunteer Complementary Therapists and a Hairdresser.
