Volunteer Counsellors

Our team of counselling volunteers is very important to us.

We are establishing strong relationships with local counselling colleges and receive many applications from trainee counsellors who would like to work with us, in order to develop and enhance their skills in a specialist setting. We are fortunate in that we have a reputation for providing quality supervision and a commitment to best practice that is second to none.

Catherine Haughton, a volunteer counsellor has this to say about her experience of working with us:

“I enjoy working with Hospice in the Weald as it is such a well-respected organisation and provider of the much needed services in our community for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. I like working here as a volunteer counsellor as the team seems well-organised, professional and caring and I feel like I am a valued member of the counselling service. I experience the counselling team to be professional, hard-working and supportive, mixed with an appropriate use of fun and humour; people I like to be associated with.

The training I received was excellent and the backup and support has been very beneficial to my learning and first experience of working as a bereavement counsellor. Regular Supervision, professionally delivered and shared with other volunteers has helped me to meet my client's needs better by providing a supportive, reliable and confidential forum in which to discuss my client work. This also helps to keep me sharp, integrated, interested and mentally healthy.

At the present time we are not recruiting Volunteer Bereavement Counsellors.
