Counselling Support for Patients

Hospice in the Weald recognises the emotional impact that illness and disease may have on patients.

Emphasis is placed on holistic care and the Counselling Support Service is available to help support patients with the range of emotions and concerns that are often experienced when one is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.

Counselling support may take the form of individual, face to face sessions, telephone counselling, or group sessions (which provide an opportunity to share experiences with others also affected by illness).

Traditionally, counselling sessions usually last for 50 minutes. However we modify and adapt to each individual’s needs and sometimes much shorter sessions may be necessary. These can be held in the patient’s own home or at the Hospice.

All our counsellors practise in accordance with guidelines from the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such, receive regular professional supervision.
